Robinson Sand Island Trip

Located just a few hundred meters off shore is the most stunning sand island that pokes out of the water during low tide every day. You can reach the sand island in either our glass bottoms boat which is perfect for families with little ones, or our Ngalaw’a (local Kenyan Sail boat). Whichever you choose, we’ll pack the snorkelling gear and a cool box so your refreshments are waiting for you after your time on the reef. This short and easy trip is a firm favourite for our guests and a must during your stay.

Wasini Island Dhow Trip

Full day trips to Wasini Island and the Kisite National Marine Reserve can be arranged with Pilli Pippa Dhow safaris. You’ll be driven to Shimoni where you will be met by the crew aboard a traditional Arabic Dhow. They sail you out to the Kisite National Marine Reserve, where you can snorkel the pristine coral reefs. If you fancy going a little deeper, Discover Scuba Dives (DSD) are available on board. After a morning on the reef, you will head over to the island for a sumptuous selection of seafood and traditional swahili dishes.

Wildlife & Safari

If you’re looking for wildlife, flights run daily from Ukunda (Diani), our local airstrip, to Amboseli, Tsavo and the famous Masai Mara Game Reserve. Whether you’re looking for the perfect walking safari, a remote lodge, or wish to see the wildebeest crossing the Mara River, we can help plan the perfect safari for you. Overnight trips can be organized along with half and full day excursions.

Golf, Tennis & Horse Riding

A round of Golf can be arranged on the 18 hole Par 72 Championship course at the Leisure Lodge Country Club & Golf Resort (20 minutes from Almanara). Club night is a weekly affair with tournaments being organised on a monthly basis. Kindondo Kwetu offers Tennis on their hard courts if you’re looking for an active afternoon. Kinondo also offer horse riding in their paddocks or on the beach.

A slice of paradise I very rarely leave a revue and I know I’m hard to please but I can’t praise enough this wonderful five roomed boutique hotel. The rooms are huge and well appointed with super comfortable beds. There is a laid back vibe and the service is impeccable. Every member of staff bends over backwards to ensure you have what you need, always with a smile. Every morning there is a suggestions board for lunch and dinner, but you are free to choose anything from the large menu and it will be cooked to perfection. The food was fresh, tasty and plentiful. Only 10 guests use the hotel’s facilities and the grounds are spacious and there are many places to relax by the pool or on the beach. This is an absolutely perfect place to relax after a hectic safari. Neither my husband and I wanted to leave. Thank you to the whole team.

A taste of pure luxury 100% recommend. A truly memorable and wonderful experience. Every single member of staff are wonderful and could not do enough for us. The room was spectacular. The food was delicious. The whole setting and environment and location were fantastic. Such a relaxing place. With only 5 rooms in the boutique hotel, you have so much space to enjoy.For the staff alone I would recommend, but add in the luxury of the room, the food and the whole setting and you will not be disappointed.

best yet Stayed for one week and was one of the best weeks we have had, staff fantastic, rooms beautiful. Has a lovely swimming pool and is situated on a fantastic beach with warm seas. best of all was the food, fresh every day and even cooked of menu with notice. Relaxing getaway We spent 4 nights in an Almanara Villa. Although the villa was quite dated in terms of decor and facilities, it was still very comfortable. What made the Almanara a great experience was the exceptional staff. We had the great fortune of having George (cook), Sidine (Server) and Edith (housekeeper) who made our experience a completely carefree and wonderful one. Likewise Rose and Sara at the spa were equally superb. Thank you for making our stay such a confortable and lovely one.

Incredible spot and service We were a group of 6 and stayed in a villa and enjoyed every minute. The set up is fantastic, relaxing and the care and service from every member of the team is brilliant. The beach is total paradise and extremely clean. Our team in the villa went over and above and we cannot fault them. George cooked fantastic meals including fresh tuna, lobster, prawns and delicious salads and it was plentiful. He will cook you absolutely anything you like. Nore, took care of the villa beautifully and added very kind touches with fresh flowers and messages, Sineni was a delightful host, making beautiful drinks, cocktails, coffee and looking after us so well. We wanted for nothing. Wycliffe also made super drinks for us at the beach and we really enjoyed a delicious meal in Sails and chats with Anthony the chef. Also, a mention to Lucy and Noor who were professional and proactive in overseeing our booking and checking in on everything. All went over and above to ensure a min extra special and memorable stay . We took a trip to the sand island, fishing and to spot dolphins which was great.We cannot wait to return, thank you so much!

Delightful Base for Rest and Recuperation We stayed at Almanara in the Main Building for one week in late November into December. We stayed in Suite 2 - this is enormous comprising sea-view balcony; large bedroom with lounge furniture and huge bed, then a massive "dressing room" and finally an oversize bathroom ... all air-conditioned. The scale of the Main Building is amazing - especially since it was built in 2007 as a family home. It is so peaceful set between the beach and the Villas and the facilities are reserved only for the guests in the Main Building.We came here after 8 days of Safari looking for a rest ... and that is exactly why we got. We only left the property to walk along the beautiful beach - a mile or more up and then back all before 7:00 am and there was our coffee waiting for us on the verandah - thank you Wycliffe.We then set about the daily task of three meals and after a few days we started to take smaller and smaller lunches. The food was uniformly excellent and always fresh and cooked superbly.The staff are super friendly .... if you want to chat they will chat with you and if you don't then they will serve you quietly. Our main contacts in this regard were Joseph, Cathy, Faith and Terry and we enjoyed meeting them very much and enjoyed their company too.The security is very good and delivered very quietly.There are numerous optional tours that one can take directly through the hotel - we took just one which was a boat ride to the local reef/sand bar for some snorkelling.Finally the Spa .... fantastic massages at a very reasonable price.Almanara - you exceeded our expectations and rounded off our first holiday in Kenya in style. Home away from home AlManara amazing team; you did it again… you went beyond and above my expectations with yet another fantastic stay at your beautiful villas. Esraa at welcoming us at the entrance of the lobby, Fadi & Manar at the main restaurant and Mohamad Saadi (a success story that I am proud to know way back in 2009). The beach team of Omar, Ousama, Ahmad & Ahmad who were attentive to our needs and maintained the beautiful sand to be safe and smooth to walk on barefooted. SARAH at the spa gave me a taste of heaven with her professional hands and the Heavenly signature massage I HIGHLY recommend this, it’s simply out of this world). Leah and her sunshine smile which lit the breakfast with her positive vibes. You are amazing. This special place will always be my FIRST choice of stay, no matter what. I can’t express my gratitude for your loving care at every post and role. God bless you all. See you on my next trip. ❤️?

What a fabulous place We stayed in the main building, the boutique hotel between the villas and the sea.Everything about this hotel is absolutely top notch, unless you don't like things quiet!We stayed in one of the bedroom suites which was huge, with a big balcony and air conditioning as well as a massive bathroom.The food is exquisite and you get (broadly) to choose what you fancy from a wide ideas list. Every morning you discuss what you fancy with the chef and hey presto it arrives . And it is very very good.The relaxation/beach area is brilliant and the local beach is huge and lovely.

Wash away the safari dust in style! They don't have luxury in their name for nothing. Wow. This is an incredible place to relax, particularly after being on safari. Perfectly situated on the idilic beach front with infinity pool and ample outdoor seating or loungers to chill. We travelled as 2 couples and had the 2 suites in the main hotel....these suites were absolutely stunning, super spacious, luxurious, well equipped with balcony and ocean views. The linen and towels were of good quality and the bed very comfortable. The bathroom was huge with large shower, his n hers sinks and a jacuzzi bath. Also to have your own walk in wardrobe felt really special. In room tea and coffee facilities were available along with a fridge that could be filled with beer or sofa of your choice.The staff could not do enough for you and every meal felt like a private dining experience.... If you didn't fancy what was on the menu that day, chef could knock you up something more to your liking. The food quality was second to none.... From lobster, to fillet steak....nothing was off limits. Fresh fruit, veg and salads were always available. Joseph and Terry looked after us at meal times and provided excellent and friendly service.Facilities on site were good to keep you entertained including a small gym, pool and TV rooms.Overall a wonderful boutique hotel, quiet, relaxing with exclusive vibes. High quality. Highly recommended.

The best boutique hotel in Diani Having visited numerous places in Diani, Almanara really stands out for a number of reasons. It is a small boutique hotel with only 5 rooms (we stayed in the main hotel and not the villas) and it really feels like a home away from home (albeit a much more posh and beautiful one). The hotel feels very spacious, open and airy and even when full, there is plenty of places to hang out without feeling crowded. We loved all the different places there are to just lounge about and relax. The views are awesome, the swimming pool stunning and the location is spectacular - it is located along the best beach stretch that we have seen in Diani (it is actually on Galu beach).The staff are wonderful and have attention to detail which is lovely. It really is one of those places that you have to stay to experience it for yourself as there are not enough words to fully describe it.The food is fabulous and the chefs are happy to cater to all dietary requirements.We highly recommend Almanara for a stay in Diani.
